I’ve lit a candle, “liked” some sombre posts.
Expressed my devastation and dismay.
Put all of my emotions on display.
I’ll carry on – I’ve exorcised my ghosts.

Relax, settle down and be calm.
There’s no need to sound the alarm.
Cover your ears and eyes;
Oh, you think they tell lies?
So does the enlightened Imam.
Don’t choose anger, crave vengeance, or hate.
Embrace love, and appease and placate.
Just go on as before;
Keep no guard at the door;
Carry on, people – accept your fate.
Express sorrow and woe.
(But don’t mention the foe)
Carry on with hashtags,
And with memes and with flags;
Carry on, and just go with the flow.
The chances of this happening to me?
They’re minuscule as far as I can see.
The odds are really rather long;
Stiff upper lip – I’ll carry on;
I doubt I’ll win the terror lottery.
In five years France will be on her knees,
And Le Pen will win office with ease;
But it may be too late
To save France from her fate,
For Islam is a fatal disease.
Smack! – into people they slam!
Look how they rampage and ram!
There goes one with a beard;
It is just as we feared!
Trucks in Sweden revert to Islam!

Assad it seems has been cut down to size;
With tomahawks they’ve given him the chop.
And only time will tell if this was wise
And whether further limbs they’ll have to lop.
(Once pruning starts it can be hard to stop)
Will weakening Assad pay dividends? –
America’s now playing the world’s cop –
But backing crazies? – Oops! I mean our friends!
Well was this justified? Well it depends:
The Russians say the rebels were the cause,
But Trump’s attack the White House now defends.
Miscalculations sometimes lead to wars;
It’s best to know the truth before one acts –
Let’s hope Trump’s in possession of the facts.

“Get used to it folks,” says the mayor,
“In a way it is really quite fair.
Sure there’ll be disasters
For we’re now the masters
And finally we’re getting square.”
