They wish to claim you as their holy place,
And so insult the name of Ataturk.
Towards a callous caliphate they work.
Thus your magnificence they would deface โ€”
Remove the images of Christ that grace
Your ancient walls. Islamic forces lurk
Within your state. That wise and mighty Turk,
(Whose legacy these fiends wish to debase)
That founding father, would have brought them down.
But heโ€™s long dead, and now a false Sultan
Sits on his phony throne and makes his claim.
But disregard the rantings of this clown โ€”
Holy Cathedral, work of Western Man,
Youโ€™ll stay a church in everything but name.

The Devilโ€™s in the Detail

Steak Tartare

The son of a Crimean Tatar,
He stuck dynamite in his garter,
And when it went boom!
It plastered the room
With raw minced up meat of a martyr.

An Honest Dialogue

One: You come from afar, what are your intentions?
The Other: To bring you down from within.

One: Why?
The Other: You are evil. You are an unbeliever.

One: Why am I evil?
The Other: You donโ€™t believe, therefore you are evil.

One: But you clearly intend doing me harm. What if I don’t let you in?
The Other: That would be an evil act.

One: You intend to bring me down โ€” isnโ€™t that evil?
The Other: I am righteous.

One: The place you came from, afar, โ€” were we there, were our roles reversed,
Would you let me in?
The Other: No, for you are evil.

One: But here, you use my goodwill against me?
The Other: Yes, for you are weak and naive.

One: So my weakness forces me, against my better judgement, to let you in?
The Other: You have not the courage to do what you should do โ€” I despise you.

One: You would despise me less if I didnโ€™t let you in?
The Other: Yes, but you would still be my sworn enemy โ€” you are evil.

One: We must agree to disagree on that point.
The Other: I do not agree with the devil. I have told you why I am here โ€” what will you do?

One: I will let you in! You more than qualify! โ€” Hell is the first door on the left.

Doubting Couplets

Letโ€™s all be nice and save their souls.
Theyโ€™ll fill us full of bullet holes.

They left their land because of war.
But all young guys? Youโ€™d that ignore?

Their culture will enrich our own.
Their scimitars they like to hone.

Theyโ€™ll make our nation more like theirs.
A bombed out mess where no one cares?

Acknowledge your irrational fear!
I understand beheadings dear.

Theyโ€™ll fit in well, you racist dunce.
They thought that in the Balkans once.

Jahannam

The hell of Islam โ€” seven levels deep.
To one of these all nonbelievers go.
All those who wonโ€™t submit descend below,
To where their tortured wraiths will never sleep.
The hypocrites at level seven creep;
They are the very lowest of the low.
At level four those who choose not to know
Of Allah and his messenger, they weep.

Two levels hold the Christians and the Jews:
So near the bottom, down at level five,
Those of the prophet Moses find their fate.
At level six, perhaps on red-hot pews,
Sit Christians who no longer are alive.
(Construction work goes on at level eight).

Your enemies, your fortress they surround.
So you must hone your wits, plan your defence;
Make sure your strategies are sure and sound.
Your enemies, your fortress they surround;
So be prepared to hold your precious ground,
And then attack, to gain your recompense.
Your enemies, your fortress they surround;
So you must hone your wits, plan your defence.

An Acceptable Diagnosis

An Acceptable Diagnosis

โ€œAllahu Akbarโ€? โ€“ Weโ€™ve heard that before.
And โ€œJihadโ€? Oh yes, thatโ€™s Islamโ€™s holy war.
But terror had nothing to do with your acts;
So listen while we explain some of the facts:
You say youโ€™re a martyr โ€“ but thatโ€™s not the case.
The problem is that you are in a bad place.
Youโ€™re just a lone wolf who is missing his pack;
Your alienation, it made you attack.
If thatโ€™s not enough, thereโ€™s the other excuse โ€“
That evil addiction โ€“ your substance abuse.
So itโ€™s not religion โ€“ itโ€™s all in your mind;
Hereโ€™s the diagnosis the doctors have signed.
Theyโ€™ve heard your confession – theyโ€™ve studied your brain,
And they all agree that youโ€™re merely insane.

Now Hollywood is staffed by jerks,
I much prefer the honest Turks.
I watch each series on Netflix;
Iโ€™ve given up on Western pricks.
Sure, some scenes have excessive sighs
Where actresses with mournful eyes
Gaze lovingly at bearded guys
With weapons of enormous size –
Sharp scimitars wielded with force,
Beheading Christian Knights, of course.
The body-count logic defies,
But then Turks donโ€™t apologise
For showing Muslims in this light โ€“
They always win โ€“ Christians canโ€™t fight!
Itโ€™s propaganda unashamed;
Their past empire is never blamed;
They donโ€™t at belly-buttons gaze;
They celebrate those gory days.
They say a prayer then say: โ€œAmen.โ€
Theyโ€™re making Turkey Great Again!

At the Flicks – Young Turks

Yes, youโ€™ve got to hand it to the Turks when it comes to making block-busting historical dramas. Soap operas really, that under the watchful gaze of the Turkish Government censors carefully tread the right path, the Islamic path, as laid down by Erdogan โ€“ he who would wish to see the Ottoman Empire rise again. But hey! โ€“ who am I to complain. I enjoy these shows, all 150+ episodes of each. The Turks are unapologetic in their portrayal of their past heroes and their victories โ€“ no self flagellation of the Western kind; no denigration of their ancestors, despite their sins – quite the opposite. The Muslims are always right and on the side of right, and the enemy, the infidels, are not only wrong, but they are also sneaky, dishonest and beneath contempt โ€“ they are demons.

So why as a non-Muslim do I enjoy these shows? Well apart from the enthralling stories, amazing costumes, the frequent sword fights, the excellent acting and of course, the gorgeous women, I basically enjoy their honesty โ€“ there is no surreptitious, sneaky, underhanded social engineering of the type we find in everything made in the West these days. No subtle (well subtle to the blind and deaf) attempts at brain-washing. The Turks don’t try to hide their prejudice. Their method of propaganda is not “sophisticated” you might say. They are confident in their convictions and consequently make no attempt to cloak their intentions. There is no undercurrent, no hidden agenda – it’s all out in the open. Typically, these shows are simply delightful Turkish Islamic nationalistic propaganda with no attempt to hide the fact โ€“ thatโ€™s whatโ€™s great about them; you can just ignore the obvious message and get on with enjoying the production despite all the โ€œAllahu Akbahs!โ€ – it’s refreshing!

At the moment I’m watching โ€œResurrection – Ertugrul.โ€ (well thatโ€™s the approximate English translation) Iโ€™m only up to episode 55 so not a lot has happened, but I feel things will begin to move shortly. Ertugrul was the father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire, Osman I, so he is quite an important guy in Turkish folklore. I say folklore because almost nothing is known about him, but that doesnโ€™t stop an imaginative Turkish script-writer from turning him into a great founding father and Turkish Muslim hero, and good on that script-writer for doing so!

Iโ€™m not going to spoil the plot for anyone but it’s sufficient to say the Muslims are the good guys and the Knights Templar (here representing the Christians) are just about the worse guys you could imagine. They are sneaky, cowardly, scheming cheats with no redeeming qualities at all. To be fair this may not have been too wide of the mark judging by their historical reputations, but I do object to their pitiful sword-fighting skills โ€“ one Muslim alp (as their fighters are called) will quite easily lay waste to a dozen Knights Templar and hardly raise a sweat.

Do these Turkish shows have faults? Sure, as you may have guessed already things sometimes move at a snail’s pace (a sluggish snail) and those long looks into each other’s eyes (including some of the man to man encounters) can be pretty trying, as can the religious meetings where dervishes monotonously chant and mysterious beams of light suddenly descend from the clouds, but hey, that’s just Turkish culture and religion and that’s what the fast-forward button is there for. Anyway if you are as sick as I am of the pathetic crap coming out of Hollywood and elsewhere and you can read subtitles, then do yourself a favour โ€“ give the Young Turks a go!

The Greater Fear

A Judgement on Paris

Beirut – once Paris of the East,
Until Mohammedโ€™s flock increased.
Soon Paris, as the fiends infest,
Will be the Beirut of the West.

It seems that when it comes to human nature, the greater fear will always win out. One would think that the recent bombing in Manchester, added to the long list of Islamic terrorist atrocities over the past decades, would be enough to make people in the West afraid of the rise of radical Islam in their countries, and vocal about it, but the majority it seems still have that much greater fear โ€“ the fear of not being thought of as good and virtuous or even worse. (but then, is there anything worse than that these days?) And of course this is a well-founded fear: If you wish to keep your job, particularly if you work in the public service or for a large or perhaps even small corporation, then you had better not hit the โ€œlikeโ€ button on that anti-Islamic terrorism Facebook post, or even worse, actually โ€œshareโ€ such a post or –ย horror of horrors – post a supporting comment! You may get away with that sort of behaviour for a while but eventually one of your workmates who happens to be a Facebook โ€œfriendโ€ will snitch on you to the boss, or word will just get around. If you are lucky you will get carpeted and receive a good dressing down and instructions to alter your online behaviour and to keep your bigoted opinions to yourself โ€“ more likely youโ€™ll get the sack. And what about your friends? Expressing your distrust of some Muslims and anger about Islamization is almost as bad as admitting that you support Donald Trump or that you think Anthropogenic Climate Change is a scam. So this โ€œGreater Fearโ€, although being illogical in the long run, (inaction against the threat will obviously end in copious tears) is in many ways perfectly rational in the short term. So what will it take for the fear that should be perceived as by far the greatest –ย Islamization preceded by terror, to actually become the greatest in peopleโ€™s minds and therefore acted on by the powers that be? How many more Manchesters will it take? Perhaps the recent French election gives us some clues: The French have been battered from pillar to post by Islamic terror for decades, and are seeing the gradual but certain disintegration of their nation and its social structure, but still managed to elect someone who will do absolutely nothing about it โ€“ except probably make things worse. If the French are any guide, then it seems that in the West the instinct of self-preservation has surrendered to what is now a much greater force – theย fear of being socially isolated.

Itโ€™s not English we hear when they talk.
Pretty soon there wonโ€™t be any pork,
And thereโ€™s no integration;
No sense of a nation;
Itโ€™s not safe to go for a walk.
