The swamp, all our efforts defies,
For the waters continue to rise.
Despite the outflows
From our pumps, it still grows!
The swamp is expanding in size!
In the depths of the marshes they dwell.
They are used to the mud and the smell.
Threaten them and they’ll bite;
They’ll all put up a fight –
Drain the swamp? They will scream: “Go to Hell!”
For the swamp’s a pristine habitat
For the ‘gator and the water-rat,
And the eel and the snake;
They are all on the take,
So they take and they take and grow fat.
