Free advice, I have found, is a curse.
You take it, it empties your purse.
Its worth I would say
Is about what you pay.
It reminds me, somewhat, of free verse.
Love it. Although I occasionally allow myself to do something in free verse, I have always thought of it as a very cheap imitation of real poetry. Anyone can write free verse, but it takes a true poet to create a piece that puts forth truths, emotions, and/or events in good meter and rhyme. I teach this point of view to the students in my “Writing Poetry” classes as well.
Maybe “poetic prose” would be a better name – where it is poetic that is. 😉
Good poem, putting two worthless things together very neatly!
