The Catchy Clap

It’s a new kind of Aussie rap!
Raise your arms now and your feet tap!
Fingers spread – make a gap!
Palm to palm with a slap!
Now you’re doin’ the Kidman Clap!

Aberrant Applause

Run for cover and sound the alarms!
Oh just look how she’s waving her arms!
And her hands are all weird!
It is just as we feared –
Nicole Kidman, she claps with her palms!

Many people these days have two poles –
Switch from one to the other – poor souls.
They’re not happy or blue,
They’re bipolar – it’s true;
It explains why they can’t reach their goals.

Free advice, I have found, is a curse.
You take it, it empties your purse.
Its worth I would say
Is about what you pay.
It reminds me, somewhat, of free verse.

Your rights, young fellow, you demand;
But rights to food and shelter and
The right to liberty and land –

By your forefathers, these were won;
By sacrifice, and by the gun.
Young man, take heed, be thankful son;

Such rights as you enjoy are rare.
Your rights? Observe what others bear;
Those with but one – to breathe the air.

My wonderful work is a hit!
It’s insects and excrement knit!
The art world’s elated
By what I’ve created –
Two flies on a glazed piece of shit.

There isn’t just one world, for there are two.
One is the world that most of us may see.
The other world is seen by just a few,
And hidden from the likes of you and me.
But there was once a man who held a key
That opened doors into that other sphere.
Then he could see the real reality,
So different to the daily fog and fear
That issues from the media – the queer
Obsession with replacing facts with lies;
That’s what we read and each day what we hear:
Racism rages, homophobes and spies
Abound, the Russians hack and pull the strings;
Yet in his world he saw quite different things.

You’re selective in your choice of ”News”,
For it’s pleasure, not pain, that you choose.
You don’t care if it’s “Fake”,
So the paper you’ll take
Is the one reinforcing your views.

Emotions may land you in trouble.
They shatter; they burst like a bubble.
Look over the oceans –
Acts based on emotions
Bring misery, carnage and rubble.

A crushing defeat – how it stuns.
And soon from The White House he runs.
But as he withdraws
He makes damaging laws,
Scatters sand in the works, spikes the guns.

Stronger springs – wider seats – ain’t it great?
Plus more power – need at least a V8
To get them up to speed,
And it’s all due to greed –
All the dummies are putting on weight.
