Gotta grab me all the glitter
That I see on Facebook – Twitter.
Get the max self satisfaction
From smart social interaction.
On my screen in two dimensions,
All the shiny new inventions:
Luxury and lives inviting,
Lifestyles of the rich – exciting.
Damn, I haven’t got enough.
Gotta get me all this stuff.
Get in quick, no time for doubt –
Terrified I’m missing out.
I did laugh out loud. And this is so true of people now.
I was just telling a friend of mine today that 10 years ago I found myself spending a lot of time with people in face-to-face visits, really focusing on each person and “feeling” their presence as well as hearing their words. Now days, I don’t spend nearly as much “real” time with friends. I interact on these “social media” networks, but it is NOT the same. It’s true for many other people as well, even it they don’t realize it yet. Something’s wrong here.
Oh … forgot to say I love the poem. Good job here, Dennis.
Thanks Sandra – glad you liked it.
What in the world did people do before they started spending their time on all these things? Live? Enjoyed.
Some even read poetry
Ever been in a room with two teenagers sitting on the same sofa emailing one another back & forth? Or, witnessed four adults at the same table in a restaurant texting but not to one another?
Yep – I know just what you mean
