With some of them we may agree
With others we may disagree.
They try to get their point across
It’s sometimes gold it’s sometimes dross.
But even if it isn’t bought
At least it may give pause for thought.
And when there’s put a stop to news
These poets still will air their views,
Until they’re put behind barbed wire
As dictators express their ire.
They’ve been around since olden times
With their seditious little rhymes,
And yes we may think some are daft
But still we can admire their craft.

Right on mate.
Here’s a guy who would have been a poet but is a glowing example of what you’re talking about :
“I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant” — Bill Clinton, testifying during the Monica Lewinski scandal
Thanks Jim, and I did not have sex with Monica Lewinsky.
This is very nice. Hit’s home as I post both very bad poems and tedious politics.
seditious little rhymes
Thanks Doug, will be around to check out your “bad” poetry.
